Hydroponic Questions

Q: Why do people grow hydroponically?
A: Hydroponic plants can be grown in a greenhouse providing a year round consistent supply of produce. The plants grow faster and can be spaced more densely, so ther is more to harvest per square foot compared to traditional farming.

Q: Why do hydroponic plants grow faster?
A: Hydroponic plants grow 25-30% faster than traditionally grown plants because the perfect blend of nutrients is delivered directly to the root system. The plant does not need to expend energy on an extensive root system to find the food it needs, so all of its energy goes into upward leaf growth.

Q: Why do you grow without pesticides?
A: We find that often we do not need to use pesticides because there are fewer funguses and pests when soil is not used. We manage pests by applying beneficial insects whch means a healthier product for you.

Q: What are beneficial insects?
A: Beneficial insects are purchased to control the production of harmful insects. Aphids and thrips are the main enemy in our greeenhouses. They can be eliminated by spreading ladybugs and other aphid eaters through-out the facility.

Q: When do you harvest?
A: We harvest daily based on our orders. Orders are delivered on the same day that it is harvested to insure the maximum freshness and nutrient density.

Q: Why do you leave the roots on?
A: The roots are left on many of the plants because it dramatically increases the shelf life of the product. You are receiving a live plant which means it still has full nutrient density.

Q: Are hydroponically grown plants healthy for you?
A: Yes, studies show that the nutrients found in hydroponic plants are comparable to organically grown plants.
